What are Āyurvedic massages and therapies?

Āyurveda offers a wide repertoire of external therapies — treatments that act on the physical body, the nervous system and the energetic channels (Srotas) to restore balance from the outside in.

At Tejas Āyurveda we apply these therapies individually and in a personalised way, always adapted to your constitution (Prakriti) and your current state. No two sessions are alike.

Massages and body therapies

Abhyanga

Sensory therapies

Āyurveda pays special attention to the sense organs as gateways to the nervous system. These therapies work directly on the senses to eliminate local toxins, nourish the sensory tissues and restore the balance of the nervous system.

Nasyam

Administration of medicinal oils and plants through the nasal passage. Cleanses and nourishes the channels of the head, neck and central nervous system. Particularly indicated for mental clarity, cranial tension, congestion and emotional balance. Preceded by the Champi head massage. 90 min · 79€

Karna Purana

Akshi Tarpan

FAQ´s

Do I need a prior Āyurvedic consultation before a therapy?

It is not required for all therapies. Abhyanga, Champi, Padabhyanga and Marma Massage are accessible without a prior consultation. For Shirodhara, Pindasveda and the sensory therapies (Nasyam, Karna Purana, Akshi Tarpan) we recommend a prior consultation to ensure the therapy is appropriate for your constitution and your current state.

It depends on the therapy and your goal. Some people come for a one-off session of deep rest.
Others incorporate a therapy on a regular basis as part of their ongoing maintenance.

In the Āyurvedic consultation we can guide you on the most appropriate frequency for you.

In general yes, but it is important to let us know before your session.
Some therapies are not indicated in certain situations — pregnancy, active oncological processes, fever or acute inflammation, among others.

If you have a specific health condition, please consult us before booking. Narayan will assess each case individually.

Abhyanga is not a tissue massage in the conventional sense.
It works with medicinal oils selected according to your Āyurvedic constitution, with specific movements and rhythms that act on the nervous system, the deep tissues and the energetic channels.
The goal is not simply to relax the muscles but to nourish, balance and restore.

Shirodhara is particularly beneficial for people with chronic stress, insomnia, anxiety or accumulated mental tension.
It is not indicated in certain conditions — which is why we recommend a prior consultation for those coming for the first time or who have specific health conditions.

Before: avoid heavy meals in the two hours prior and arrive calmly.
After: it is advisable to rest for a while, avoid the cold and not shower immediately to allow the oil to continue working.
